guilty girl's guide to
SAN FRANCISCO ST. PATTY'S DAY -
PUBS, PARTIES, and MORE
We've been trying to figure out how celebrating St. Patrick's Day has anything to do with getting over guilt, and then we realised that it has everything to do with telling guilt where to stick it. It's one day where everyone morphs into the same creature. A beer loving, green clad, stranger hugging, pinch monster. And we love that! We all go out on St. Patty's day and end up with someone elses fog cutter and a renewed sense of joy. So the guilty girls are fully embracing this wee little day of celebration and leaving guilt in the office... for the morning after.
Below is a list of parties, pubs and science-y goodness to dive right into.

TAVERNA AVERTINE
582 Washington St. (FIDI/JACKSON SQUARE)
This always popular St. Patricks Day Alleyway Party will not disappoint... unless you leave work after 430 since you will sadly have to wait in line. A plus though - it's FREE! The only thing you'll shell out for are Drinks, Food... and limited space.

KELLS
530 Jackson St. (FIDI/JACKSON SQUARE)
If you don't feel up to the chaos of Taverna's party, mosey across the street to Kells for a more laid back feel. Seeing as how it's an Irish Pub everyday, they tend not to go too crazy. That's not to say that their live music isn't foot thumping, and the spill over from Taverna will keep the place nice and lively.

THE IRISH BANK - BLOCK PARTY
10 Mark Lane. (FIDI)
Every year, The Irish Bank hosts their block party starting around 2pm. This pot o' gold includes music and more space than Avertine's alley.
Forwarning - it's hard to get quick service on the best of days, so go with a little patience and a high tolerance.

CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE - GREEN NIGHTLIFE
55 Music Concourse Dr. (Golden Gate Park)
Who doesn't enjoy the mix of booze and science every Thursday at Cal Academy? But this Thursday wins out! If you want to get away from bar hopping chaos, then head to the Golden Gate Park to dive into crafts, the science of corned beef and cabbage, and green beer. All for an entry price of $15.

THE CHIEFTAIN
198 5th St. (SOMA)
If you're a hard working start up techie with a penchant for good shepards pie and beers on draft, then make the short walk over to this local favorite to start out your night. Don't forget to try the Irish loving Magner's Cider.

THE CHAPEL
777 Valencia St. (Mission)
Want a change of pace? The Chapel hosts their popular Sinner's Happy Hour from 5 - 730pm and are following it up with live music by Royal Jelly Live. Enjoy their Irish cream liquor affagato (vanilla ice cream drenched in irish cream and espresso - YUM) out on the sunny patio while you wait for the music to start.

THE NAPPER TANDY
3200 24th St. (Mission)
A favorite go-to in the Mission for St. Pattys and Santa Con. The beer runs cold and the food tastes like heaven here. Watch out for leprechauns though, you might end up leaving having misplaced your cares and woes.

KENNEDY'S IRISH PUB AND CURRY HOUSE
1040 Columbus St. (North Beach)
Ever craved Indian food after throwing back a few lagers? Well if not, you've been missing out. This dark bar boasts an endless number of beers on draft (no seriously - we lost track after 20), an outdoor patio that backs up to the cable car tracks, and food that will calm any craving. Order up some curry chips and a freshly tapped lager and catch some of the fading rays of sun from a jolly St. Patrick’s Day.

INNER RICHMOND
Clement and 2nd Ave.
WARNING - This is not a pub, this is a magical neighborhood that mixes their love of Irish pubs with copious amount of dim sum. You may think this is a peculiar combination, but after hitting the fifth Irish pub in a long line of Irish car bombs, some pot stickers might be exactly what your wee little heart desires. Start at The Plough and the Stars and make your way block by block. Let’s see if you can get all the way to 21st Ave.
(Plough and Stars, Ireland's 32, O'Keeffes, The Abbey Tavern, The Bitter End, and The Blarney Stone)
